A minor ID is a specific identification number that Medicare and DVA use to recognise our MBS software when transmitting electronic claims.

For outpatient and Inpatient DVA claims, Medicare will only accept claims from a single minor ID and provider number combination. Any attempt to submit claims via a different minor ID will result in the original minor ID being unlinked from its associated provider number. This is important to bear in mind when switching between billing services as each will have their own minor ID.

The bottom line is – DO NOT SHARE PROVIDER NUMBERS. The provider number(s) you have linked to Synapse should not be used by anyone else.
